Starter lighting
Starters are components or accessories for discharge lamps. Starters are used together with conventional and low-loss ballasts to ignite discharge lamps. Discharge lamps are, for example, compact fluorescent lamps and the well-known classic fluorescent or neon tubes. The starters are already integrated in compact fluorescent lamps, which you may know as energy-saving lamps. In installations with fluorescent tubes, the starters are usually separate. A starter creates a momentary voltage spike that ignites the gas inside the fluorescent tube. The different types of starters include, for example, glow starters, fuse starters or electronic starters. Whatever starter you need for your lamp, there are numerous different models available in the eibabo online shop. By the way: Luminaires that are equipped with an electronic ballast do not need an additional starter, since the ignition pulse is controlled by the electronics installed in them.
