Feed-through duct - Are you unable to install electrical cables and wires inside walls or floors? Does your installation need to be checked regularly? Then you need an alternative to laying your electrical routes. Mounting brackets, clamps, cable ties and similar devices are often used as fasteners. However, their common disadvantage is that the installation remains open and visible. However, this is unacceptable in most cases. In order to hide the wiring, ducts are used for cable routing. We would like to introduce you to their types and sizes in this article.Cable routing ducts are used wherever extensive installations are necessary and concealed installation is not possible. A typical example is the multi-storey office building. In addition to power supplies, all kinds of data transmission cables have to find their way to the individual offices and different floors. And of course you don't lay these lines and cables loosely, but protect them from damage and unauthorized access with a cable routing duct.Cable routing ducts made of plasticPlastic cable ducts are most commonly used to route cables within a building. In most cases, these are white or gray profiles with a rectangular cross-section. Depending on the model, the channels can be divided into several strands. Likewise, there are cable ducts in various other shapes and even colors, which are intended for laying in specific locations or for different purposes. For example, there are models with a triangular cross-section for the connection between worktops and the wall. Half-round variants are used on the ground so that people do not trip over the cable.materials and structurePlastic cable routing ducts are made of non-combustible PVC or polyethylene. Typically, the length of a segment is 2 meters. Other dimensions are also available for special cases, so you can also find longer cable ducts if required. The width and height can be chosen individually. The standard dimensions are between 10 mm and 60 mm. Deviations are also possible here depending on the application. The most popular and widespread are the simple, classic U-shaped cable ducts. U-shaped cable ducts are available with both solid and slotted sidewalls. On the other hand, the coverage is usually always massive. This is clamped onto the side walls without tools.attachmentDepending on the material and the load-bearing capacity of the surface, cable routing ducts are fastened, glued, nailed or screwed using retaining clips. The manufacturers provide appropriate mounting holes for this on the underside of the duct ex works. TIPIf you decide to stick it on, please also take into account the subsequent weight of the cables and lines. In many cases, double-sided adhesive tape is not sufficient for permanently secure attachment. accesoriesIn order not to have to make curves, angles or branches on the main line yourself, many manufacturers offer additional elements to adapt to your own needs. You get connection boxes, T-pieces and corner profiles for every type of cable duct. These allow you to create cabling of any complexity without affecting walls and floors and without wasting time. There are also consoles for sockets and switches, which can be connected directly to the cable duct.channels for the floorSpecial ducts should be used to route cables and lines to the center of the room. These are very flat and curved in cross-section. This minimizes the risk of tripping and also protects the cable from damage caused by mechanical stress.Colored floor ducts are also available. On the one hand, you can create a subtle appearance to match the floor covering or, on the other hand, use contrasting colors to draw attention to this 'dangerous area'.What are the advantages and disadvantages of cable routing ducts made of plastic?Cable routing ducts enable a highly flexible and yet safe installation of cables and lines in almost all spatial conditions. There is no need to open the walls and floors to lay cables and lines. The installation is accessible at any time for repairs, checks and extensions. The cables and lines are protected against mechanical damage. The elements are inexpensive and can be assembled quickly. On the other hand, you have to accept that the usability of the wall is somewhat affected by cable routing ducts and the design of the interior design suffers as a result. It also cannot be ruled out that carelessness can result in damage or that the installation can be ripped out of the wall.Image: OBO LKM40040FS cable routing ductWiring ducts of metalMetal cable trunking is designed for heavy loads. These models are usually not necessary for classic household use. Metal ducts are mainly suitable for the industrial sector, because complex line systems and extensive cable bundles often have to be laid here.materials and constructionGalvanized steel is predominantly used as the material. This protects against corrosion and serves to maintain the function of the system in the event of external faults. Cable routing ducts made of metal are predominantly U-shaped and are available both with and without a cover. Perforated and non-perforated material is used depending on the operating conditions. The dimensions can be up to 300 mm in width and 100 mm in height. Standard lengths are 2000 mm and 3000 mm. From a certain dimension, the transitions to massive cable support systems are fluid. TIPYou can order the right end pieces, duct connectors, partitions, brackets, clamps or device sockets from us at the same time. attachmentDue to the high weight, the metal channels cannot be glued. Fixing with anchors and dowels is common. For channels with larger dimensions, shelves or consoles are offered for attachment.accesoriesMetal cable routing ducts are often used to route electrical cables in raised floors or false ceilings. Depending on the requirements, additional components are required for their assembly in order to create turns, climbs, slopes or branches. What are the advantages and disadvantages of cable routing ducts made of metal?Metal ducts, when properly secured, can withstand the weight of a large number of power cables. They allow you to easily trace the path of each cable. As with the plastic variants, installation is easy and access for maintenance, replacement and additions is available at all times. An additional plus is the fire protection on the inside and outside. The disadvantage is the high weight and the higher costs. Individual adjustments to the modules are comparatively complex on the construction site. A lot of accessories and high-quality tools are therefore required. The portfolio available in the eibabo® online shop starts with narrow and flat items for just one line and extends to wall ducts and ceiling ducts, which can accommodate dozens of lines and cables. We recommend the high-quality items from the well-known manufacturers Kleinhuis, Niedax, Niedergesäß, OBO, Pflitsch, PROTEC.class, Rehau, Tehalit and Vogels.  Catalogue content:In this eibabo® catalogue Installation ducts for wall and ceiling > Installation duct you will find items from the following product groups:Item overview:Cabel CanalCable routingCable routing ductCeiling ductConduitDesign channelDevice installation trunkingDoor bypass channelElectrical installation ductGlue channelIndustrial channelInstallation channelLine protection channelMetal channelMini cable channelPlasticPlastic channelRoller channelSheet steelSheet steel channelSkirting boardSkirting channelSurface channelWiringWiring ductfrom the following manufacturers:Manufacturer overview catalogue Feed-through duct:KleinhuisNiedaxNiedergesäßOBOPflitschTehalitVogels

Housing - on-wall-ceiling - Do you want to bring together several electrical cables for your electrical installations? In this catalog you will find housings that have been developed for mounting on a wall or ceiling. These are mainly referred to as junction boxes, junction boxes, connection boxes, distributor boxes or, according to German standards, as installation boxes. Find out here what the differences are between the individual installation boxes and which criteria are relevant when purchasing. With eibabo®, you can choose exactly the installation boxes that are best suited to your project from a comprehensive range. These are also referred to as passive components of an electrical installation and, in contrast to switch boxes, are mostly installed on plaster. Due to their design, these are designed for stationary installation and for accommodating cables, lines, clamps and other connections. We carry housings with strain relief lugs for pendant lights and external mounting lugs. You will also receive housings with high resistance to the effects of weather. These are impact-resistant, protect against rainwater and are also resistant to changing temperatures and seawater. Housings with these special properties are approved for installation on ships and for offshore applications.Notice:Always leave electrical installations to an experienced electrician. When working on an installation box, safety always comes first. Disconnect the relevant circuit from the power supply.A high percentage of the junction boxes at eibabo® are kept in classic white and grey. However, you can also find cases in colors like black, green, brown, and red for a more customized use. What do I need installation boxes for?Junction boxes are an essential part of the electrical wiring systems for houses and other buildings. These are made of metal or plastic and protect cable connections, connections and distributions in an electrical installation. For example, if you want to distribute the individual supply line for a room to several lines, the wiring is done in the installation box.How are installation boxes installed? The assembly of the installation boxes is very simple. As a rule, the housings have markings or screw channels on the inside, which you should use to attach them to stable and secure surfaces. Some variants offer external attachment tabs. Make sure that the housing corresponds to the conditions at the place of use, is freely accessible for maintenance work and cannot be manipulated by unauthorized persons. TIP:You can close and seal some installation boxes tightly. External influences can be quickly identified through the viewing window in the cover.  TIP:Based on experience, we recommend that you make the entries for each cable before installing the socket and insert cables as a test. In tight installation environments, it can be difficult to cut out post-inserts or expand existing diameters. How do installation boxes differ?Installation boxes differ mainly in size, material and properties for specific locations. Installation boxes can be made of either metal or plastic. The choice between plastic and metal depends on which cable material is used and which mechanical loads an installation box should be able to withstand. Metal-sheathed cable and metal conduit typically require a metal junction box for grounding. Even if the installation box is exposed to heavy knocks or similar influences in everyday life, a stable metal model is recommended. Plastic housings are the standard choice for non-metallic cables.Special featuresSome models are fire resistant or shielded for use in severe conditions. Installation under the ground, under water or in potentially explosive areas is also possible in some cases.Check the local regulations for your electrical installation. This will tell you if you need to use wall outlets with a specific IP rating. In most cases, your electrician can tell you what IP rating is required.Correct dimensioning of the installation boxThe dimensioning of an installation box is crucial to ensure the function of the internal connections. If you have enough space available, we always recommend using a slightly larger can. Cables and wires are rigid and difficult to bend into shape. Clamps require space. If you choose the socket too small, the space for working on the connections will also be very small and cramped. When determining the size, consider:the number of lines to be installedthe length of the lines for comfortable workthe cross-section of the lines and the associated flexibilitythe number of clamps to be installedany other components in the can  TIP:Do not leave any exposed wires in the installation box. Even if you do not need a wire, please always provide it with a clamp. Always allow for some reserve for changes in the future. On average, installation boxes for commercial use are larger than housings for private households, as these often have to accommodate more connections.Image: Spelsberg Abox 250-L junction boxHow do I find the right installation box? There is a large selection of installation boxes. This ranges from universal installation boxes to special products. You will find the right product if you ask yourself the following questions:Do I need an installation box for commercial or private use? What are the site conditions like? (surface, temperature, humidity, electromagnetism, risk of impact)How much space do I have for installation? What is installed in the can and how much? What space should I reserve as a reserve?Do I want to secure the installation box? (vandalism, unauthorized access, sealing) The answers result in a catalog of properties. You can easily set these as a filter here in the shop. Led lamp multi-led - Don't you think that the era of conventional light bulbs is coming to an end? The range of LED bulbs has taken over the lighting market and is now wider than other types of bulbs. Find out here how the LED lamp has developed over the last few years and why you should replace the conventional lamps you may still have with modern technology. The decades in which conventional incandescent lamps dominated domestic lighting are over. The future belongs to LED lamps, which have been developed in a wide variety of types and shapes in recent years. These are now used everywhere at home, in offices, hotels and public buildings as well as in industry. Even in concert technology, theater lighting and municipal lighting, LED technology has become indispensable.Image: Philips MLEDspotVal LED reflector lampWhat are the advantages and disadvantages of an LED lamp?An LED lamp is a rather complex electronic device with dozens of details that affect the quality of light, safety and lifespan of the lamp. There are numerous differences compared to classic incandescent lamps and the modern compact fluorescent lamps (energy-saving lamps). These have some advantages, but also come with a few disadvantages. NoticeThe main advantage of LED lamps is energy saving. With the same light output, the LED lamp consumes 7 to 10 times less electricity than a conventional incandescent lamp. Other differences are:Durability - the LED bulb lasts 15x to 50x longerLess heat development - the lamp usually does not get that hotLED lamps shine with the same brightness despite the lower mains voltageInstallation ? lower power consumption allows installation in a power-limited luminaireThe light from modern LED lamps is optically comparable to that of conventional incandescent lamps Compared to compact fluorescent lamps (energy-saving lamps), there are the following advantages:Environmental friendliness - LED lamps do not contain any hazardous substances such as mercury.Economy ? The LED lamp consumes less energy with the same luminous flux.In contrast to the compact fluorescent lamp, the LED lamp lights up immediately with full brightness.Compact fluorescent lamps have an unnatural light spectrum. The light spectrum of an LED lamp is much closer to natural light. But there are also disadvantages:The price of an LED lamp can be higher than other lamps.Due to the complex structure, numerous products of poor quality are on the market. Not all models support dimming. The performance specifications of some manufacturers deviate from the actual performance. Briefly on the history of the LEDThe history of the LED begins as early as 1907. British engineer Henry Joseph Round first observed the formation of a point of light when direct current is passed through a silicon carbide point contact connection. In 1924, it was Oleg Vladimirovich Losev who investigated this effect in more detail and then constructed the first light-emitting diode (LED). After initial research, Losew proposed concrete theories of how it works and later used them in practical applications. Based on this, red, yellow, green and blue LEDs were developed in the 1970s and 1980s. Subsequently, white LED light sources were created from the combination of red, green and blue. In the 1990s, the first white LEDs appeared, which used a special chemical to convert the light from a blue or ultraviolet LED into white light. What types of LED lamps are there? As already mentioned, the range of offers is very wide. LEDs are not only available as individual components for self-assembly, but also in the form of strips, tubes or panels. In this catalog from the eibabo® shop, we present the LED versions of classic light sources. In other words: Here you get the LED alternatives to all possible types of incandescent lamps, halogen lamps and fluorescent lamps. The LEDs are installed in housings that resemble the original light sources. These can be classic lightbulbs, candles, spheres, spotlights or spotlights. The housings are equipped with the corresponding, standardized bases to enable easy replacement with the conventional variants. The most common sockets are:E27, E40 and E14GU10 and GU5.3G9, G13, G23 and G4GX53R7sand some others What are COB LEDs?Anyone who deals with the selection and differences between individual LED lamps will come across the term COB LEDs. COB LEDs are multiple LED chips that are grouped and bonded together by the manufacturer to form a single module. As a result, the chips are smaller and can be installed closer together. The LED chips are mounted directly in contact with a substrate such as silicon carbide or sapphire. This achieves a significantly higher lumen density in a smaller space. COB technology also uses a single circuit design with only two contacts, no matter how many chips are involved. And what does this mean? In contrast to other LED light sources, there are no longer any transitions in the light from one LED to the next. A uniformly luminous field of any shape and size is created. The term COBCOB is the abbreviation for 'Chip on Board'. This means that the chips are attached directly to a carrier substrate and therefore fewer components are required per LED chip for proper operation. Along with eliminating the otherwise common LED chip structure packaging, less heat is generated and higher installation density is achieved. This technology made it possible, for example, to produce flexible and yet optically uninterrupted light strips. The filaments in the currently very popular 'Edison light bulbs' are also based on COB technology. What characteristics should I look out for when buying LED lamps? There are numerous parameters that can influence the purchase of an LED lamp. Let's take a closer look at some of them:The luminous flux / luminous fluxThe luminous flux is given in lumens and is the total amount of light that the lamp emits in a certain time. The more lumens, the brighter the lamp.the frequencyNatural light sources shone evenly, like candles or the sun. Many electric light sources do not emit an even, but a pulsating light. At a frequency of 50 Hz, the light 'flickers' 50 times per second. Even if we are not consciously aware of this, our body registers the pulsation and may react with discomfort, tiredness and even malaise. Light with a frequency above 300 Hz has no noticeable effect on the human body. So pay attention to the highest possible frequency. The color temperatureLED lamps are available in different light color temperatures. These are given in Kelvin, for example:1800K - Candlelight2600K - warm light like incandescent bulbs3000K - warm white comfortable light5000K - neutral white daylight6000K - Cool White Light White and cool white light is said to increase concentration and efficiency, while warm light promotes relaxation. Warm lighting is recommended so that you can fully relax and fall asleep better after coming home from work. Color temperatures of around 3000 Kelvin are suitable for everyday household routines. It can be daylight to work.In addition to the main parameters, it is important to note some other characteristics of LED lamps. These would be:Illumination angle ? width of the cone of light illuminating a given areaOperating voltage ? Most LED lamps are designed for a mains voltage of 230 V, lamps with GU5.3 and G4 sockets are also available for 12 voltsEnergy Consumption - Typically, the wattage of the lamps is in the range of 1.5 watts to 15 watts. However, this says nothing about the actual brightness. This is given in lumens (see above)Dimmability ? There are dimmable and non-dimmable models. Many dimmable LED lamps do not dim completely, but only to 15% to 20% of full brightness. This depends not only on the lamp, but also on the dimmer.Dimensions - When choosing lamps, don't forget the overall dimensions. LED lamps are sometimes significantly larger than the corresponding light bulbs. As a result, a bulb may not fit into the lamp or protrude.Service life ? The service life is mostly given as between 10,000 and 50,000 hours. Be aware that these are theoretical values.Guarantee period - The longer the manufacturer gives a guarantee on a lamp, the more likely it is that it will be of the highest quality.Date of Manufacture ? Technology is evolving rapidly. If lamps have been stored for a long time, you will surely find better models from more recent productions.  TIP:The indication of the power equivalent to an incandescent lamp is no longer up-to-date (e.g. 'corresponds to 40W') and is also becoming less and less relevant as technology continues to improve. Instead, select your lamp based on the lumen specification. Buy your multi-LED lamp from eibabo® now. In our shop you will find multi-LED lamps for almost all common bases, lamp types and in many shapes. With the LED lamps we offer you can easily replace your old lamps and save up to 80% energy compared to conventional light bulbs. This means that the additional costs associated with the purchase of LED lamps are usually amortized after a short time. Data rail - A data rail is required in a KNX bus system if the KNX devices to be installed in an electrical distribution (REG = DIN rail-mounted device) dispose of pressure contacts on their rear side. The data rail provides a connection between the KNX bus and the KNX device by means of the usual KNX bus terminal. The data rail is glued into the DIN rail (self-adhesive). Often, data rails with mounted data rail connector are offered, so no connector must be ordered separately. eibabo sells data rails in different lengths depending on the required space or horizontal pitches (HP) or space units (PLE). One space unit is standardized and equals 18mm, the width of a normal circuit breaker. The data rail consists of 4 horizontal conductor tracks. The assignment according to KNX standard, including the terminals at the data rail connector is from the top to bottom as follows: Yellow: + 24V, red: + KNX bus, black: - KNX bus, white: 0V. The outer conductor tracks / connector terminals (yellow and white) supply the KNX lines via a separate KNX choke. A data rail should not be shortened! To protect remaining blank spaces on a data rail, cover strips can be snapped on. KNX data rails have existed since the beginnings of the European Installation Bus (EIB) and are increasingly disappearing from the market, although the data rail is actually very practical and convenient. As far as the production is concerned, pressure contacts on the rear side are much more expensive and the reason, why almost all manufacturers have switched to direct bus connection contacts (bus terminals). The advantages of the data rail are the much better overview of the electrical distribution, reduced wiring costs (KNX bus) between KNX devices and the reduction of wiring errors (+/- reversed). However, it can be assumed that there will be fewer KNX devices with pressure contacts in the future. In this eibabo category you will find data rails, cover strips for data rails, data rails with connectors and data rails for deep and shallow top hat rails of the brands Berker, Hager and Siemens.Catalogue content:In this eibabo® catalogue Installation bus systems > Data rail for bus system you will find items from the following product groups:Item overview:Bus systemBus system data railConnecting bridgeData railData rail for bus systemEIB data railInstabus data railInstallation bus data railKNX data railRailfrom the following manufacturers:Manufacturer overview catalogue Data rail:EatonEltakoPepperl + FuchsSiemens
Cover switch-button-dimmer - Do you prefer plain and simple covers for switches and buttons? Or may it also be something extravagant? We offer a huge range and show you what colours, shapes and styles are there? At eibabo® you will find blind covers and switch covers that make our home functional, comfortable and individually adjustable. This includes covers for room temperature controllers and dimmers from over 20 brand manufacturers at top conditions.PICTURE: Busch Jaeger 2504-2014 blind rockerWhat are covers for switches and buttons? Our life is hardly imaginable without power connections in the house. We operate light switches and plug sockets several times a day. Anyone involved in the planning and construction of a building knows the importance of covers for switches and sockets. Trouble-free functionality, simple design, durability and safety are what count in everyday contact with the interfaces to the power grid. How are these devices constructed? Roughly speaking, conventional switches and buttons consist of an insert, a frame and a cover. The insert consists of the switching technology or the technology for the button and is installed in a switch box.The cover frame forms the outer ring of a socket, button, switch or other insert. The covers fill the frame and ensure that we can safely operate switches, buttons or sockets. The manufacturers have adjusted to the needs of their customers. These offer switch programs with which you can determine the appearance of your switches, buttons and sockets yourself. Covers are available as:Rocker switches, rocker switches and double rockers for lights, blinds, heating and the likeCentral plate for sockets, network sockets and other mediaCable outlet or key switchBlind cover without functionalityCentral disc for dimmers, sensors, temperature controllers Can covers for switches and buttons be combined with frames from other switch ranges? The answer is yes and no. Inserts, frames and covers are standardized, but the details can differ. Why is that? The standard refers to DIN 49073:2007-09. This prescribes the typical dimensions of a switch box (diameter: 60 mm or 68 mm. Depth: 40 mm to 66 mm). The switch ranges of all manufacturers fit into your existing and standardized switch boxes. The situation is different if you want to combine different switch ranges. Although all switch series correspond to the basic installation standard, there are differences in design. As a result, some series are not compatible with other series. Particularly exclusive switch programs are usually also not compatible with other programs. These are usually made of glass, brass, brushed aluminum or stainless steel. TIP:When combining white parts, make sure they have a matching color number (RAL) and the same surface treatment. There may be minor differences. Some covers for buttons and switches match cover frames from other series and manufacturers in terms of shape and size. This allows you to design the control elements in your living room or work area very individually. If you want to combine, we recommend matching the inserts and cover first. In many cases, you will receive these devices as a matching set. This results in the choice of a suitable framework. Many manufacturers produce standardized frames with a cut-out of 55x55mm or 50x50mm. These fit onto correspondingly standardized covers and inserts. Then swapping, combining or varying is possible. If you are not sure, please look at the product description and compare the dimensions given. How do I remove a cover for switches and buttons? You can replace covers for sockets and switches yourself. Please pay attention to your safety, because after removing the covers the current-carrying contacts are exposed. When working with electricity, please disconnect the power supply beforehand. In most cases, the cover or the central plate is screwed to the insert with a small, centrally located screw. You can simply loosen them and carefully pull off the cover.cleaningCentral plates, central discs, rocker switches and cover frames are often touched. We recommend regular cleaning. With a rinse cycle in the dishwasher, all parts become clean again. Some materials are sensitive to heat or water. For example, clean metal covers by hand. Please make sure that the cleaned parts are absolutely dry before you start the cultivation. Place the frame behind the cover and screw it to the insert. Is there a cover for buttons and switches for outdoor use?A special feature are the covers for outdoor use. This is due to the necessary protection against dust, dirt and water. The optimal switch range for use outdoors or in damp rooms is at least IP44 splash-proof. This should also have a reinforced frame, be made of robust material and be mountable to protect it against theft. As a rule, you do not receive such covers individually but in a set. TIP:Many outdoor covers are visually very appealing. These can also find a place in the interior design. Please do not use interior covers in damp rooms or outdoors. As a rule, these switch ranges do not offer the necessary protection.Do covers for switches and buttons break easily?Covers for switches and buttons are actuated several times a day, depending on where they are used. However, the loads on the material are low. The high-quality products from all major manufacturers have proven to be very robust in everyday use. With careful handling, the covers can last for several decades. During assembly and disassembly, there is a risk of damage if, for example, you overtighten the assembly screw. Benefit from our huge selection and the low prices for covers from Alre-it, Berker, Busch Jaeger, DEHN, Eaton, Elso, Eltako, Gira, Hager, Jung, Legrand Bticino, Legrand SEKO, Merten, OBO, Peha, Rademacher, Siemens , Somfy, Tehalit and Thebes. The products in our catalog are sorted by relevance. This makes it easier for you to find the right item for you.  Catalogue content:In this eibabo® catalogue Domestic switching devices > Control element/cover plate for domestic switching devices you will find items from the following product groups:Item overview:ActivityAntique brassBlank panelBlind switch toggleCentral diskControl surfacesDouble switchEmergency call systemExtensionFull plateHeating emergency switchLight emission windowManufactureMocha metallicNurse emergency callResidual currentRotary dimmerSensor insertShaver socketShutter buttonShutter controlSignal colourSurface frameTactile controlTemperature controllerTimersTitle blocksToggle switchfrom the following manufacturers:Manufacturer overview catalogue Cover switch-button-dimmer:Alre-itBerkerBusch JaegerDEHNEatonElsoEltakoGiraJungLegrand BticinoLegrand SEKOMertenPehaRademacherSiemensSomfyTehalitTheben
